The Netcentric PM Methodology - why we do projects the way we do!

Opala I & II 03-02-2017, 11:00 to 12:00

Add to my calendar

Target audience: Project Managers

Nearly five years ago, Netcentric started with a very clear idea of which method of project delivery worked best for the kind of projects we do. Everyone involved knew what they were doing and why they were doing it. Fast forward to today and we not only have many project managers who come from completely different backgrounds, but also different types of projects and customer requirements regarding the handling of these projects.

This talk aims to look at the present and the future: to see what the unmovable pillars of our methodology are, where it has already evolved and what still needs to be changed in order for us to deliver competitive and profitable projects. The kind of projects which not only continue to make our customers successful, but also are fun for us to deliver!

Enterprise Asset Management: Making a case for AEM Assets

Floriana III 04-02-2017, 12:15 to 13:15

Add to my calendar

Target audience: Consultants Project Managers Requirement Engineers Solution Architects

Redundancy reducing, time and money saving, a good asset management strategy is vitally important to the core marketing platform. The customer journey begins with content. When marketers can't find the content or it is out of date or worse, has en expired license, the first touch with a customer can be a misstep. Asset management is the least sexy part of a marketing platform implementation and although "content is king", it is often over looked because it requires care and cultivation.

We will talk about how Adobe's innovations in Assets look to alleviate the over head that is required in an asset management solution. We will look at the best practices in assets and how Adobe's myriad solutions can meet those needs. Cloud, on premise or hybrid Assets 6.3 has a host of new innovations to support the core of customer journey that begins with content.

We will look at an implementation of Assets as Netcentric's first stand alone assets implementation and how the project leveraged out of the box functionalities and enhanced them the meet very specific customer needs.

When a dedicated search engine makes sense - Experiences with LucidWorks Fusion

Opala I & II 04-02-2017, 12:15 to 13:15

Add to my calendar

Target audience: Account Managers Project Managers Solution Architects

When planning AEM projects search requirements often get underestimated. After all it's just a text box to enter queries and a search result page, and AEM comes with a built-in solution. So at a first glance an external search engine might look unreasonable costly.

This talk is about our project experiences with LucidWorks new, Solr-based search platform Fusion and when such solutions become reasonable in AEM projects. This includes the limitations of AEM's internal search as well as benefits of Lucidworks Fusion.

AMC Integration Methods, a technical approach

Floriana III 04-02-2017, 14:30 to 15:00

Add to my calendar

Target audience: Solution Architects

While Adobe is working hard to achieve the vision of all its products working under one AMC platform in symbiosis and fluidity, we are aware that there are currently some strengths and weaknesses to the current integration points, so let's have a look at some major integrations inside the AMC.

The key take aways of this talk will be to:

1. See how to set some integrations from A to Z

2. Understand how the data is being share from one product to another following the current Adobe standard integrations

3. Understand the limitations of these integration methods

4. See how to customise standard integration for the client needs

Integrations to tackle:

- AEM/AC for AEM form storage.

- AEM/AT for offer management

Translating business domain to code: Advantages of a strong domain model

Jade I & II 04-02-2017, 14:30 to 15:00

Purpose of the talk is to promote code with a strong Domain Model, with classes that adhere to the nouns used by business stakeholders where rules are incapsulated and methods represent something meaningful for the business.

Our objects become more behavioural, and less as solely data-holders. This will improve readability, reusability and will reduce potential defects that might appear in the future due to a next developer's lack of understanding of the domain.

Jenkins 2 introduced pipelines as a central building block for job configurations making it a lot easier to follow the paradigm "Infrastructure as Code" for Jenkins Setups. This talk will show the capabilities (as well as pitfalls) of the Jenkins Groovy DSL and a working example of a full AEM delivery pipeline that includes automated and manual testing against a running AEM instance on a feature branch already. This will make Integration Tests (think HttpUnit, Selenium, Sling Teleporter Tests) more useful for the future! Additionally, the capabilities of the Netcentric shared pipeline libraries will be presented.

And most importantly, what current and broadly used frontend performance best practices and techniques do we need to drop, in order to take the most advantage of it?

This talk is a journey through time and a real time experience, to answer all this questions and get us ready to finally enable HTTP/2 in our implementations.

This talk will give some insights on how to migrate old projects to the new annotations and what tooling needs to be leveraged.

Building Highly Scalable, Robust & Fast Single Page Web Apps

Jade I & II 04-02-2017, 17:15 to 18:15

Add to my calendar

Target audience: Software Engineers Solution Architects

Single page applications have become increasingly more complex over the past few years. The way we approach and design web applications have changed a lot. User interfaces have become even more interactive and often contain very complex asynchronous data flows. The performance has also become very critical because the end users are expecting a native-like experience.

We will look at some framework agnostic concepts that will help you build truly reusable UI components and manage the application state in a predictable way. As the application grows and changes over time, we will leverage some best practices and tools to ensure a robust design that scales well in terms of requirements and performance.
